What a joyful 25th anniversary celebration the UUFH community experienced the weekend of October 7-8. The hard work of organizers Barbara Hochschild and Harriett Ball paid off - with the cooperation of Weather Gods. We rented a huge tent for the occasion. No way could we have fit 180 in our Fellowship Hall for the splendid Saturdayevening potluck dinner, featuring splendid chicken parmigiana prepared by chefs Paul Shoemaker and Ron Anderson.. We anticipate that our adept chicken servers, Brian Edwards, Jr. and Cosmo Pernie will be the chicken chefs for the 50th anniversary party! The array of delectable potluck dishes was most impressive. We can guarantee no one left hungry.

After dinner, we waddled up to the UUFH sanctuary for a special program, featuring the world debut of Tom Hough'sThe UUFH: Who Are We? Assisted by a capable staff assistants in this labor of love, Tom spent much of the past year gathering and editing this DVD that will be used in future newcomer orientations. (Three copies have been placed in the UUFH library. Do check it out if you weren't able to see it.)
The youth group drummers gave us plenty of rhythm. Reverands Charles Grady and Jim McKinley shared special reminiscences, and once again Music Director Katherine Price rose to the occasion with just the right choices in high-energy music. The lighting of 25 candles and our collective wishes for the next 25 years was a special creative touch.
Sunday's olde tyme tent service was no less impressive. The choir was in top form. TJ District Interim Director Laurel Amabile offered plenty of praise and encouragement. Vicki did a beautiful job getting young and old blowing bubbles. Jim added his special touch. Our musicians Katherine Price, Crystal Smith, and Carol Solenberger filled the neighborhood with joyful sounds. Claudine's new guide dog Buddy and a few passing geese added their approval.
Following the service, we enjoyed a scrumptious cake, beverages, and warm fellowship.
As usual this event was the product of many hands sharing the load. A special grant from the Endowment Committee made the entire celebration possible. What a special weekend it was been. The UUFh community deserves to be very proud of what this group has achieved in 25 years - with much promise for even great accomplishments in the next 25 years.
